Elements

Elements are the individual components that make up a web page.

They generally consist of a start and an end tag, containing content in between, e.g.

<p>the content</p>

Some elements, known as void elements, do not require an end tag and are sometimes closed within the opening tag by the use of a forward slash before the right hand greater than / angle bracket, e.g. <br />

Attributes can be assigned for most elements within the opening tag, such as: <p id="myPara">

Elements can also be nested within one another, e.g.

<head>

<title>My Page Title</title>

</head>
